Children get hooked on Fishing at Parc Taf Bargoed
On the 6th August 2014, the Taff Bargoed Angling Association hosted a fishing workshop, sponsored by Miller Argent, for the Bridging the Gap Youth Club, which offers activities to children with disabilities aged 11 and over.
All the children were taught how to cast a line, and if they were lucky enough to get a bite, how to reel in a fish. Although most of the catches were returned to the lake, a few of the best catches were kept for a BBQ which was being held the following day at the club.
A popular fishing destination, the former colliery is now being put to good use as a wildlife haven and community activity centre which is open to the public. The lake is restocked periodically with trout, which the club had arranged for the children to see during their visit.
