Seasonal steam train treat for youngsters

Youngsters and their families supported by the Acorns Children’s Hospice and Winston’s Wish charity, enjoyed a very special day out with Santa Claus and an old fashioned steam train, thanks to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway and Miller Argent.

Organised by the owners of the historic steam railway and powered by coal from Miller Argent’s Ffos-y-Fran opencast mine in Merthyr Tydfil, the ‘Santa Special’ train transported the youngsters and their families between Cheltenham Racecourse and Winchcombe Station, while Santa’s reindeer took a well-earned rest. Once at Winchcombe Station – which was transformed into the North Pole for the day – the youngsters got to meet Santa and his elves and visit his Christmas grotto.
