Helping Fund Community Projects

Ffos-y-fran Community Benefit Fund

Over the life of the scheme, we expect to contribute up to £11m to a dedicated community fund. This money is derived directly from the coal production at Ffos-y-fran and is intended to help fund local community initiatives and good causes.

The community benefit fund has been involved with too many good causes to list in detail here, but a few notable examples are: assisting with the refurbishment of the Redhouse in Merthyr Tydfil, and paying for a new pitch for Merthyr Tydfil Football Club.

The fund is managed by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council; it is the Council’s ultimate responsibility to decide which applications receive funding from the money that is being accrued.

For details of how to apply for a grant from this fund, please contact the Finance Department at Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council, Civic Centre, Castle Street, Merthyr Tydfil, CF47 8AN.
