Helping to Power Wales

Helping to power Welsh homes and industry

Coal output in the UK is worth over £1 billion to the UK economy.

Coal currently provides around 40% of the UK’s electricity, a percentage which rises at peak periods in the winter months. Yet only 17% of the coal used by UK power stations is supplied by British coal mines. To avoid costly imports, it is important that British companies continue to produce coal until other energy sources become viable.

We supply coal to Aberthaw power station and Tata Steel. This means that our coal plays an important part in producing steel and energy for South Wales.

We are proud to support these key Welsh industries and Nant Llesg will enable us to keep doing so for the next 15 years or so.

This coal not only provides hundreds of jobs in South Wales, but also helps to provide much needed energy for homes and businesses throughout the region and beyond.
