Training and apprenticeships
Alongside meaningful employment, we would also look to create new apprenticeship opportunities for local young people. We currently employ eight apprentices at Ffos-y-fran in a range of roles and we try to offer our trainees as many experiences as possible.
For example, our first trainee apprentice Lewis Jenkins has completed seven and a half years with us. Lewis has gained valuable experience in three different departments including; engineering, planning and environmental. To complement these experiences Lewis has achieved a Higher National Certificate in civil engineering and a Higher National Diploma in quarry technology.
Local apprentice Nathan Lucas is currently celebrating after receiving a First Class Honours Degree in business studies from Glamorgan University whilst working full time for the company.
The apprenticeships at Nant Llesg would be run in partnership with local colleges as is currently the case for some of the younger members of our team on the Ffos-y-fran site.
