To the west of the old A4060 road is a stone bridge, which most likely dates to the early 19th century and once spanned a tramroad.  In the late 19th century/ early 20th century the tramroad was converted into a railway.  This meant that the bridge was too low to allow trains to pass under, so we believe that the top of the bridge was removed to allow the free passage of the trains along the track.

As part of the archaeological works on site it was felt important to record the remains of this stone bridge.  The size of the bridge presented difficulties both in regard to logistics and in relation to Health and Safety.  The solution was to employ Total Survey to laser scan the bridge.  The bridges' structure was captured in 3D images, from which detailed plans, elevations and cross sections have been generated.
